Associate Records
Associate Records connects the enrolled record to other records: contacts, companies, deals, tickets or a custom object. You choose how targets are found, how many get associated, and which association label is applied. It can also remove associations. Available from the Pro plan.
Input fields
| Field | Shown for | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Associate with | always | The type of record to link to. Choose Custom object to type a fully qualified name (p12345_cars) or an object type ID (2-12345). |
| How to find the record | always | The method. Each method reveals only its own fields: match a property value, use a specific record ID, match contact email domain to company domain, or remove associations. |
| Value to match | match mode | Property picker on the enrolled record. The value found there is what target records must contain. |
| Property to match on | match mode | A live dropdown of the target object type's properties. Target records whose value here equals the match value are associated. |
| How many matches to associate | always | One to one (first match only, with a tie breaker) or one to many (every match, up to 50). |
| If several records match | always | Tie breaker for one to one: oldest record wins (default) or newest record wins. |
| Record ID | record_id mode | The ID of the record to associate, usually inserted from a property. Separate several IDs with commas to associate them all. |
| Contact email property | always | Email-domain method: which contact property holds the email. Default: email. |
| Create the company if none matches | always | Email-domain method: create a company carrying that domain when no match exists. |
| What to remove | remove mode | All associations to the selected object type, or one specific record (reveals a record ID field). |
| Association label | always | A live dropdown of the labels defined between the two object types in your portal, including custom labels. Default is the unlabeled association. Ignored when removing. |

Good to know
- One to many caps at 50 matches per execution to protect your API limits.
- The enrolled record's type is read from the workflow enrollment; you never have to say what the enrolled record is.
- Association labels are fetched live from your portal when you open the dropdown, so custom labels appear automatically.

Frequently asked questions
Can I associate a record with several records at once?
Yes. Choose one to many and every record matching your property value is associated, up to 50 per execution. One to one associates a single best match using your tie breaker.
Does it work with custom objects?
Yes. Choose Custom object and enter the fully qualified name, for example p12345_cars, or the object type ID such as 2-12345. Both the enrolled record and the target can be custom objects.
Can I apply association labels?
Yes. The Association label dropdown loads the labels defined between the two object types in your portal, including your custom labels. Leave it on Default for the unlabeled association.
How do I remove an association?
Choose Remove associations, then either all associations to a chosen object type, or one specific record by ID.
